XPENG, a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle (EV) company, celebrated its 10th Anniversary Gala with the launch of the MONA M03, an intelligent, all-electric hatchback coupe, and the introduction of groundbreaking AI technologies. The event highlighted the debut of XPENG Turing, the company’s self-developed 40-core chip designed for AI vehicles, AI robots, and eVOTLs. Additionally, XPENG announced its next-generation AI-powered perception solution for smart driving, the AI Hawkeye Visual Solution, aimed at enhancing autonomous driving capabilities.
Key Highlights:
- Launch of the MONA M03: An all-electric hatchback coupe starting at RMB 119,800, with deliveries set to begin in September.
- Introduction of XPENG Turing: The world’s first 40-core chip tailored for AI models, powering AI-defined vehicles, robots, and eVOTLs.
- AI Hawkeye Visual Solution: A new perception system set to debut on the XPENG P7+ in Q4 2024, enhancing autonomous driving performance.
- Four-Phase Plan for Smart Driving: Aiming to achieve L3+ smart driving with L2 hardware within 18 months.
XPENG Turing, named after the computing pioneer Alan Turing, represents a significant milestone in the company’s dedication to intelligent technology research and development. The chip’s successful tape-out on August 23 positions XPENG as a leader in AI innovation, with the Turing chip expected to significantly boost the performance of XPENG’s AI models and autonomous driving capabilities. The chip’s design focuses on enhancing neural networks, delivering performance three times greater than existing alternatives, and accelerating the arrival of L4 autonomous driving.
“The last ten years encompass not only XPENG’s first decade but also the first decade of China’s smart driving journey,” said He Xiaopeng, CEO and Chairman of XPENG. “For our next decade, XPENG is setting new goals: to become a global technology company centered on AI-powered vehicles.”
XPENG also revealed the AI Hawkeye Visual Solution, which integrates advanced hardware and software to improve perception in various lighting conditions. This system will be featured in the XPENG P7+ by late 2024, with plans to expand its use across other models, including the MONA series.
The MONA M03, designed with AI-quantified aesthetics, offers a sporty exterior, a spacious interior, and advanced smart driving features, setting a new standard in its class. The M03 Max version is particularly notable for its full-scenario XNGP ADAS, the industry’s only urban smart driving solution priced under RMB 200,000.
XPENG continues to push the boundaries of automotive technology, with future innovations including the “Land Carrier” flying car and the second-generation humanoid robot, both set for unveiling in the near future. XPENG’s ongoing advancements in AI and smart driving technology underscore its commitment to leading the transformation of the global automotive industry.
